Happy to go, Happy to return |
As an official “Auntie” (and my less impressive “Uncle”
title), I have certain responsibilities; and one of the biggest ones is
birthday parties… So, Rob and I loaded up our two four-legged children and took
a little drive out to the country to celebrate a wonderful birthday with our
friends and their children; and accordingly, we spent the afternoon trying to
make sure our children didn’t run off into the wilderness or eat the cake
before our hostess could serve it.
The boys always enjoy a car ride (they love to go—anywhere other
than the vet); and since we went to a relatively new place (they’ve only been
there one other time), they enjoyed a plethora of new smells and got to explore
a little bit more in that environment. While Jesse (the yellow one) spent most
of his time marking new territory and avoiding the children, Presley (our black
child) enjoyed having access to a slip in slide with a sprinkler and licking
chocolate icing off a toddler’s face (and yes, their personalities—like their fur
colors—are like night and day). All in
all, we had a great time.
But a great time which isn’t very conducive to creating,
testing, and blogging about new dog treat recipes; so, I don’t have a new
recipe for this week. And if any of you are wondering why I don’t just make one
today (Sunday), I’ll have you know that I’m just far too distracted by the war
of the humming birds going on outside our family room window to type much more
anyway—and also, I have laundry to do, and we’ve got to take Rob’s car to get
an oil change…and a half dozen other things that I haven’t even thought of yet.
This whole full-time relationship/living together thing is
really involved.
However, check back next weekend for a carrot-cake inspired
treat which is almost certainly guaranteed to make you drool almost as much as
your pouch!
